What is a pocket diaper?
These diapers 'sort of' fit into a couple of categories, but are different enough to warrant their own classification. Pocket Diapers are steadily becoming another household favorite as they are extremely easy to care for and effectively keep babies dry and rash free with their innovative design. They are really the best choice for parents who are nervous about trying cloth diapers. The only real difference from disposables (aside from the health, environmental impact, and comfort of course!) is that you have to wash them. They are as easy and as trim as a disposable without the waste, chemicals and thousands of dollars. Read more about the differences between cloth and disposable diapers.
Pocket Diapers are made with two layers sewn together to form a pocket. The exterior layer is a soft waterproof fabric and the inner layer (that touches baby's sensitive skin) is a 100% breathable, lush poly fleece. The fleece does not retain moisture, but dries quickly.

These two layers from a pocket where an insert or a folded DSQ Chinese Prefold is placed. When your baby wets, the urine passes through the fleece to the cloth diaper or insert inside where it is absorbed away from baby's skin. The fleece leaves your baby feeling drier and comfy and the cover keeps the moisture from seeping into baby's clothes or your lap.
Created much like a fitted diaper or an all-in-one in fit, pocket diapers have 'wings' that wrap around baby and fasten easily at the waist and thigh with hardy plastic snaps or Aplix hook & loop closures. The snaps and Aplix are strategically positioned to allow for the adjustability your growing baby needs. Although Pocket Diapers do not have deep gussets, they do contain messes effectively and the elastic at the back waist and the legs is enclosed in fleece, so it does not leave red marks or grip baby's legs too tightly. Pocket Diapers require absolutely NO diaper pins - a favorite of Dads, sitters, day care centers and nurseries. They can be put on just like a disposable, but retain all the benefits of cloth.

Pocket Diapers are considered an AIO by most people, because they function as one. They are easy to use, easy to clean, and dry very quickly. Unlike the traditional AIOs that can take two drying cycles to dry completely, pocket diapers separate from the absorbent inserts that require so much drying time. In fact, pocket diapers can even be line dried which extends the life of the diaper!
Fuzzi Bunz are a Punkin-Butt favorite! The super durability and adjustability of the snaps make these diapers tough and dependable. In fact, they are the night time diapers we choose the most. We trust our sleep to Fuzzi Bunz because they rarely leak. The adjustable absorbency makes it easy to add additional inserts to prolong the length of time the diaper can be worn.
Diaper Creams & Fuzzi Bunz
Mother of Eden, the maker of Fuzzi Bunz, does not recommend using diaper creams while using Fuzzi Bunz. Many diaper creams contain oils that will damage the fleece causing it to repel the urine and resulting in leaks. Look for ingredients such as fish oils, lanolin and zinc oxide in diaper creams. These and other ingredients are not recommended with Fuzzi Bunz or any other cloth diapers. The oily residues will lessen the diapers' absorbency.
However, we have tested and approved three diaper ointments for use with cloth diapers, including Fuzzi Bunz: Earth Mama Nipple Butter, Angel Baby Bottom Balm and Baby Bottom Better by Motherearth. All three are made with olive oil which soothes and heals while rinsing away clean.
